![]() About PMC Security Services
PMC Security Services were formed in 1996 by retired police officer Peter Copland, with the intention of providing a quality security service, at affordable prices.
During his police service Peter was involved in major incident exercises designed to test the system should a major incident occur. As well as this, Peter was also assigned to the armed response team on duty at Glasgow Airport during the Gulf War.
Peter Copland has experience of all aspects of police work, including leading drugs enforcement teams in drug raids which resulted in convictions at the High Court.
As well as being involved in the inauguration of the CCTV system in Paisley town centre, Peter gained the first conviction using this system. He was also praised in the Paisley Sheriff Court for his skill in operating the CCTV system to its full potential.
While still serving with the Police Force, Peter became involved in football related security after he was approached by St. Mirren football Club and asked to set up and run their stewarding operation. With the permission of the police, he set about the task of ensuring that the stewards at St. Mirren were conforming to the standard set out in the Green Guide to football safety, which is regulated by the Safety at Sportsgrounds Act. The stewards supplied by PMC Security Services are regarded as an example to others, and are currently used at Celtic Park for major cup finals and International matches. A mark of the high regard the stewards are held in, for the first time in many years an International Under 21 European Championship match was held at St. Mirren Park under UEFA regulations. Such was that games success, that another Scotland match took place in October 1999.
When Peter started out in business, his expertise soon came to the fore, and soon he was providing security for events throughout the country, as well as retail and industrial uniform security personnel. In our first 2 years, several business links were fused, and the service provided meant that customers came back time and again to PMC Security Services.
Event and sports security is provided by PMC Security Services at Hamilton Park Racecourse, Perth Racecourse and Musselburgh Racecourse. At the former 2 venues, Peter is registered with the Jocky Club as the Safety and Security Officer.
A major outdoor event was the responsibility of PMC Security in July 1998 and we received several plaudits for our organisational abilities, and the professional and friendly attitude of our staff.
the CeltFest watersport event in July 1999 held at Largs was another event stewarded by PMC, and the whole event was voted a success with thousands of visitors returning home with happy memories.
Peter is a member of the Association of Football Safety Officers, and was recently appointed to a working party to standardise football stadia regulations throughout Scottish football.
All sporting events filmed in Scotland by Sky Television, and some BBC events enlist the help of PMC to ensure that their outside broadcast equipment is in the safest of hands. This service has now been extended to the rest of the British Isles, and PMC security personnel are noe traveling the length of the country. Several Independant Television Companies have also taken advantage of our services. PMC Security Services provide an on-site base for its personnel whether in a city centre or out on the hills.
The millennium saw PMC Security Services embark on their biggest ever night of events, covering millennium celebrations in Paisley, where a ticket only crowd of over 3000 enjoyed a safe and secure start to the new year. Our staff ensured that safety was paramount by successfully securing a glass-free site, and the whole event was voted a huge success. In Perth a crowd of around 15'000 danced the night away on the North Inch, after a torch-lit procession from the town centre. The night ended with a giant fireworks display and a memorable start to the millennium was enjoyed by all, including our staff.
PMC Security Services continued its excellant working record with East Renfrewshire Council and were responsible for security at the recent 'Play in the Park' which celebrated the history of Eastwood District. Our staff even traveled to the Millennium Dome with the production.
PMC Security Services also supply retail security guards for a major DIY chain, who have decided to upgrade the image of their security operation. Our blazered security enhances the professional outlook of the forward thinking company.
PMC Security Services aim to provide a professional security service to all aspects of industry and commerce. It is our policy to employ highly trained customer friendly personnel, who carry out their duties with efficiency and the minimum of fuss.
Peter Copland is a member of the executive committee of the recently formed Leisure, Safety and Security Association, set up to improve and set standards in the Security Industry, which also sets strict criteria for training.
Whether its one man, or woman, in a blazer, or 150 yellow-jacketed stewards, PMC Security Services have the personnel to ensure that your event goes off safely, with exactly the right people in charge of security.
We aim to continue the rapid growth based upon the reputation that we are building, by providing high quality personnel, to assist at every event.
PMC Security Services, through Peter Copland, can assure you of the very best of attention at all times..........thats our guarantee !
